The area around Clarkston has a real mix of property. There are traditional sandstone villas and older cottages, especially in the older village centres such as Busby and Eaglesham. There are also plenty of inter-war and post-war bungalows and semi-detached houses, many with a garage at the side or the end of the drive, along with newer homes that have integral or attached garages. • Sectional garage doors: these lift vertically and sit under the ceiling, so they don't swing out over the driveway. That's useful where the drive is short.

• Roller garage doors: compact and space-saving, they coil neatly into a box above the opening.

• Side-hinged garage doors: a traditional look that can sit well with older properties, and practical if you go in and out on foot a lot.
